A Sick Witch's Quarantine Survival Guide

If you're like me, you might really be stressing out right now. Dealing with a pandemic, especially in the face of chronic illness and financial anxiety, really weighs on our bodies and minds. I wanted to offer what I can by sharing the magickal resources I am currently drawing strength from. Please enjoy the following blessings in the form of herbal remedies, ritual and divine guidance.

1. Sick Day Potion

This comforting concoction always makes me feel better, especially in breaking up congestion. Feel free to add more cayenne to taste for a more intense decongestant experience.

Hot water

Ginger tea

1 Tbsp lemon juice

Honey

A couple of dashes of Cayenne powder

Before drinking, say this blessing with your hand over your mug: "With this potion, I nourish my body inside and out. Blessed be."

And enjoy!

2. Symptom Management

If you've been feeling under the weather or are looking to fortify your immune system at this time, try these herbs:

Echinacha

Rose Hips

Hibiscus

Thyme

Orange Peel (or an orange slice diffused in water)

Combine and steep these herbs in hot water to get a powerful dose of Vitamin C and immune protection!

If you're feeling congested, sore or dried out in your sinuses, add a drop of eucalyptus, tea tree, peppermint or rosemary essential oil to your tea. You can also spend some time inhaling the EO's fumes straight from the bottle, add a few shakes on the floor of a hot shower, or add some to a bowl of hot water, put a towel over your head over the bowl and INHALE THE STEAM.

If you're already feeling yucky (including stressing over whether or not you have the coronavirus) or dealing with any flu-like symptoms, try these herbs:

Lemon balm: delicious, antiviral, and anti-anxiety

Mullein: perfect for easing asthma and swollen glands

Licorice root: the best cure for a sore throat and upset stomach

Ginger/Feverfew/White Willow Bark: for headaches, inflammation and fever

Chamomile: for inflammation, tense muscles and anxiety

You can get these herbs from stores who sell them in bulk, or (and this is the safest option for right now) buy packaged teas containing at least some of these ingredients.

3. Secure Yourself and Your Home with Some Protection Magick

There's many ways to approach this, but here's one idea!

Get a glass of water, and say a blessing over it, like, "may this water help neutralize low vibrations and negative influences, and protect this home from harm."

Mix either regular sea salt or black salt into the water. Black salt is commonly used in witchcraft for protection and banishment spellwork. To make some, just mix some ash (from incense, weed etc.) and black pepper into regular sea salt. You can ground down and include eggshells if you'd like to add more oomph. I use a mortar and pestle to do this, so use that if you have one.

Dip two fingers in this mixture and draw an "X" on all the windows in your house. Sprinkle the water at the perimeter of your home, the corners of rooms and at your front door's threshold. As you do this, say, "All negative influences are not welcome here. This home and the souls within it are fully and completely protected."

You can repeat this if you'd like as you go around anointing your home, and you can also come up with a blessing of your own that resonates with you if the one I shared doesn't quite do the trick for you.

4. Use Affirmations

Here's an example of some affirmations you can use and recite in meditation to ease your mind during these unsure times:

"I trust in divine timing."

"I am safe and protected."

"My family and home is safe and protected."

"I know exactly what I need."

"I adapt to these changes with ease and trust."

"My body heals itself with every breath I take."

"I welcome this time of stillness, rest and introspection."

5. Seek Spiritual Guidance

There's nothing more comforting to me than seeking tarot-based/divine guidance from other witches within my community. Here are some videos and readings that I have found very comforting in the past couple of days. I hope these videos and wise women can give you some peace, direction and positivity:

If these videos resonate with you and you connect with the wisdom of these lovely witches, subscribe and look forward to daily and weekly guidance to ease your mind and feed your soul.

Stay tuned for more consistent tarot readings for the collective and individuals on my IG for more love and guidance!

6. Consider Honoring the Coming Spring through St. Patrick's Day and Ostara Celebrations

If you feel called to it, focusing on preparation and celebration of the sabbats is a fun distraction, particularly if you already honor these sabbats as a Pagan. Check out Witchy Tips on IG for some inspiration for honoring the holidays this week. They include a primer on how to celebrate Ostara in a more simple, low spoon-friendly way. I'm a Celtic Wiccan, so you may only feel called to honor St. Patrick's Day today if you are also Celtic. It is not an official Wiccan sabbat.

Stay safe, wash your hands, and stay home as much as possible! I love you all. Blessed be.
